The Hafsid suite

This suite is on the second floor and its windows open on three different spaces: the bedroom: on the terraces, the living-room: on a small patio with a fountain and the bathroom: on another patio enhanced by its monumental fountain and its well. The bedroom and the living room are separated by an arcade and the bathroom is entirely covered with gray marble. The French furniture is ancient, especially the “Gondola” bed typical of King Louis-Philippe’s taste. This is the only suite the kilims of which are originating in the region: two lovely “Bakhnoug” from El-Kef, embroidered on a red wool background, and a rare Moroccan tribal “Henbel” from “Zemmour” tribe.
The name of the suite is a tribute to the Hafsid dynasty that ruled the region from 1207 to 1574 (367 years!) and gave Tunis and its kingdom a great part of their social, cultural and religious heritage (do not miss the “Abdalliya” Palace in La Marsa)
